NSF-REU Interdisciplinary Life Science/Engineering
(Beginning 1 February 2005, we will accept applications for Summer 2005) Name of Program "Undergraduate Research in Biodiversity and Ecological Processes in Fluctuating Environments" Program Description This is an interdisciplinary program that emphasizes an integration of engineering and life science technologies for studying biodiversity and ecological processes. The program is designed for undergraduates in environmental engineering, environmental science, or any of the life science disciplines. The program will offer opportunities in bioinformatics, molecular genetics and molecular phylogenetics, ecological modeling, ecotoxicology, geographic information systems, bioremediation, monitoring, and basic field studies in ecology and environmental biology. Eligibility This is a competitive program open to undergraduate environmental engineering/science majors or any of the life science majors. Ten positions are available. Ten positions are available. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Stipend Salary will be $300 per week ( for 10 weeks). Also, housing, food, and travel allowance will be provided. Students will receive 3 hours credit for undergraduate research, as well as training in environmental ethics.
